A 30-year-old Pacific man was arrested for alleged drug possession after Eureka Police stopped the car he was driving because his license had been revoked. The man also was wanted on active warrants, police reported.
At about 9 p.m. April 3, an officer saw a Honda Civic traveling Fifth Street, and after checking the car’s license plate, the office learned the man’s driver’s license had been revoked. The officer also learned the man was wanted by Pacific Police on a warrant, the report said.
The officer turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights, and the man turned the Civic into the AutoZone Auto Parts store parking lot, 1443 W. Fifth St. The man was arrested on his active warrant, according to the report.
The man admitted that he knew his license was suspended, and he said he was working on attaining a new license, the report said.
The man also allegedly told police that he was addicted to methamphetamine. He said there was a pipe loaded with meth in the car, according to the report.
The man told the officers he had thrown the pipe on the floorboard in front of the rear passenger’s side seat when he was pulled over. An officer found the pipe in the car, the report said.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was book and released pending the application for a warrant after the Pacific Police were unable to pick the man up, according to the report.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
