Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are trying to find a 45-year-old Pacific man who allegedly entered a restricted impound lot at Big Boy’s Towing and Recovery and then allegedly got into a fight with an employee. The man apparently had gone to the business, 18515 Hwy. 66, to retrieve his vehicle, police reported.

The police report did not say what vehicle the man was trying to retrieve or why it was in the impound lot.

At about 12:45 p.m. Aug. 25, the employee saw the Pacific man, who was wearing jeans but no shirt or shoes, in the fenced-in lot. The employee said he asked the man if he had permission to be in the restricted area, and the man started yelling at him and said he didn’t need to check in with anyone and that he was taking back his vehicle no matter what, the report said.

The employee said the man tried to push him out of the lot and then allegedly threatened him, saying if the employee tried to touch him, he would be sorry. The employee said the suspect kept pushing him, so he grabbed the Pacific man by his arm and neck and then let him go and locked the gate to the secured lot, Eureka Police reported.

The suspect reportedly walked to his vehicle, so the employee used a skid steer to block the man from leaving in it. After that, the man allegedly got out of the vehicle, jumped the fence and ran away from the business. A man matching the description the employee provided was seen walking near Hwy. 66, but when an officer approached him, he ran away, according to the report.

As of Aug. 26, the man had not been arrested, Lt. Michael Tapp said. Anyone with information about the man should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
