It appears someone walked through Antonia Elementary School, 3901 Old Hwy. M, in Barnhart after a chain link fence and gate were damaged in a construction area. An addition is being built at the Fox C-6 School District school.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the burglary that occurred between about noon on Sept. 16 and about 5:45 a.m. Sept. 17. As of Sept. 25, nothing has been reported stolen from the school or the construction area, police reported.

A man walking by the school early in the morning on Sept. 17 called the Sheriff’s Office after seeing the damaged fence near the construction area. A gate and portion of the fence had been damaged and were on the ground, the report said.

A tarp protecting the construction area had been cut, and a door to the building was unlocked inside the construction area. It appeared items were moved inside the construction area, a toolbox was opened, and multiple doors inside the building were opened, according to the report.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell asks anyone with information about the fence being damaged and the school being entered to call 636-797-5515.
