Three SUVs parked at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 350 East Fourth St., were damaged and two were broken into between 1 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. Oct. 6. About $1,650 worth of items were stolen from two of the vehicles, Eureka Police reported.

A 2016 Jeep Patriot, a 2004 Ford Edge and a 2015 Lincoln MKC were damaged. A red SUV, driven by a white male between 30 and 50 years old, was seen leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed at the time of the incident, the report said.

The passenger window of the Jeep was broken and two purses were stolen. The driver’s-side door and window were damaged on the Ford and two  purses were stolen from it. In addition, the Ford appeared to have been rammed, and there were red paint marks on it, according to the report.

The stolen purses contained a ring, phones, cash and other items, the report said.

The front passenger window of the Lincoln was damaged, but it did not look like anyone entered that vehicle, according to the report.

Damage to the three vehicles totaled $1,800, with about $500 in damage each to the Jeep and Lincoln and $800 in damage to the Ford, the report said.

As of Oct. 11, none of the stolen items had been recovered and no arrests had been made, Capt. David Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
