Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at the Fenton Park Market, 1070 S. Old Hwy. 141, in unincorporated Fenton. It looked like someone cut a hole in a piece of plywood covering a broken window to get inside the business and then stole money from a cash register, coin machines and four slot machines, authorities reported.

The burglary likely occurred during the overnight hours between Feb. 3 and Feb. 4, and an employee reported it at about 8:10 a.m. Feb. 4. the report said.

The Sheriff’s Office did not report how much money was stolen from the cash register and coin and slot machines, but the damage to the machines was estimated about $2,850.

As of Feb. 10, none of the money had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the burglary should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
