Michael Calvin Meagher, 65, of Pevely has been sentenced to seven years in prison after violating the terms of his probation. He was cited three times for violations in the year after he was placed on probation, according to court documents.
Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Brenda Stacey on June 24 revoked Meagher’s probation and sentenced him to seven years in prison, court records show.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Shannon O’Neal prosecuted the case.
Meagher had entered an Alford plea on Feb. 26, 2024, for a charge of second-degree sodomy. He had been accused of molesting a child younger than 17 years old between June 1, 2013, and June 30, 2013, court records said.
By entering an Alford plea, Meagher did not admit guilt but agreed there was sufficient evidence to find him guilty of the offense.
Meagher’s sentence was suspended in 2024, and he was placed on five years’ probation, court documents said,
However, he was issued citations three times from May 1, 2024, through Dec. 10, 2024, for violating the terms of his probation, according to court documents.
A memo filed by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said the first citation listed an action plan that included completing a substance abuse evaluation and refraining from alcohol. In the second citation, Meagher admitted to drinking alcohol, and the third citation said a test confirmed Meagher had alcohol in his system, court records said.
He was warned in the third citation that if he continued to consume alcohol he would be removed from the sex offender treatment program he entered as part of his plea agreement, according to court documents.
