Eureka Police have forwarded a report about a fight between a fast-food restaurant manager and the husband of one of the restaurant’s employees to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The men allegedly pointed guns at each other before engaging in a physical altercation, Capt. Michael Werges said.
An officer was called at about 6 a.m. Aug. 27 to the Burger King restaurant, 235 W. Fifth St., by a 41-year-old Eureka man, who is the manager. The man said he was attacked by a man and two women, the report said.
The manager said he was arguing with a 37-year-old Villa Ridge woman, who works at Burger King, about her not going into the restaurant to open for the day. The woman had arrived at the restaurant with a different employee, a 31-year-old Villa Ridge woman, but refused to go into the restaurant because the manager was sitting in his car, according to the report.
The manager said he was waiting for his wife to bring him his work shirt, and he and the employee exchanged text messages arguing about who would go into the restaurant to begin opening for the day. The two women left the parking lot and went to the nearby Phillips 66 gas station, 301 W. Fifth St., the report said.
The manager’s wife eventually brought him his shirt, and he went into the restaurant. He went outside at about 5:40 a.m., and the older employee’s husband, a 36-year-old Villa Ridge man, drove into the parking lot, according to the report.
The two men started yelling at each other. They both said the other man pulled out a gun first. They also said they both agreed not to use guns and began to fight, Eureka Police reported.
While the two men fought, the women returned to the parking lot. Both women allegedly kicked at the manager as he wrestled with the other man, the report said.
When the two men separated, the manager went inside the restaurant, and the two women and other man drove back to the gas station, according to the report.
The officer retrieved a gun from each man after talking to them and the women about the incident, the report said.
As of Sept. 25, the prosecuting attorney’s office had not filed charges against anyone involved in the incident, and no one had been arrested, Werges said.
