A 20-year-old Memphis man reportedly assaulted a 20-year-old Imperial woman at an Arnold hotel. The man allegedly stabbed the woman three times with needle-nose pliers, Arnold Police reported.
At about 7:20 a.m. Feb. 14, officers were called to the Quality Inn, 3610 the West Outer Road, after multiple guests heard a disturbance in one of the rooms. When police arrived, they found a woman in the room who had suffered cuts, and her right thumb, chest and lower back were bleeding, the report said.
The woman told police her boyfriend was angry because he had run out of methamphetamine and she tried to stop him from leaving to get more. During their dispute, she said the man grabbed her by the throat and choked her and hit her head against the wall, according to the report.
Police did not report any marks on the woman’s throat or head. She was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County to be treated for the cuts, police said.
The woman said she got away from the alleged assailant by punching him and then ran to the door and blocked it. The man then allegedly grabbed needle-nose pliers and stabbed the woman before getting out of the room, the report said.
Officers found the man about 2 miles away at the BP gas station, 3700 Jeffco Blvd., and arrested him for the alleged assault. The man was transported to Mercy South after he allegedly said more than once that he was going to hurt himself, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for third-degree assault and armed criminal action, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
