Timothy Kuehn, 54, whose last known address was in Arnold, allegedly told police he killed his sister in Affton “for the insurance policy,” authorities reported.

The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney has charged Kuehn with first-degree murder, a class A felony punishable by life in prison or the death penalty, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony punishable by a minimum of three years in prison, according to court documents.

Kuehn was being held March 21 without bond, St. Louis County Police reported.

Kuehn allegedly stabbed his sister, Karen Callis, 61, repeatedly with a knife at a home in Affton. Police found Callis’ body at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the home, according to the probable-cause statement in the case.

Kuehn, whose last known address was in the 3900 block of Shelley Lynn Drive in Arnold, previously pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated resulting in injury, a class E felony, stemming from a January 2017 incident. In September 2018, he was sentenced to four years in prison. However, the sentence was suspended, and Kuehn was placed on five years’ probation, according to court records.
