A man was hurt, three mobile homes were damaged and two sheds were destroyed in a Wednesday afternoon (March 2) blaze on Fieldcrest Drive in unincorporated Fenton. In addition, two families were displaced, the Saline Valley Fire Protection District reported.
The district received a call around 2:30 p.m. about the fire that damaged mobile homes at 760, 763 and 766 Fieldcrest Drive. Two adults and three children lived in the home at 766, and two adults lived at 760, said Bill Modrosic, Saline Valley Fire battalion chief.
“No firefighters were hurt and one of the occupants of 760 had minor burns,” Modrosic said. “The man was treated at the scene and did not go to the hospital.”
He said the fire spread from a shed to the other structures.
“The shed was heavily on fire when firefighters arrived,” he said. “The shed was between the mobile homes at 760 and 766. The fire spread from the shed to 766 and then to 760. The mobile home at 763 is across the street and had superficial damage to the front of the home.
“I believe the ones at 766 and 760 are a total loss.”
Modrosic said the cause of the fire is not known but no foul play is suspected.
He said Thursday, March 3, that the fire is still under investigation.
The Red Cross was contacted to help the displaced residents find other lodging, Modrosic said.
The Rock Community, Fenton, Mehlville and High Ridge fire districts helped with the call.
