The body of a 25-year-old Festus man who apparently hanged himself was found this morning (Sept. 15) in Sunset Park in Festus, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
Employees from the Festus Parks and Recreation Department discovered the body hanging by a belt attached to a post under a pedestrian bridge connecting the area near the tennis courts to the area near the ballfields, Lewis said.
“We’re approaching it as a suicide in the park,” Lewis said. “All indications are that it was a suicide.”
He said no note was found.
The incident remains under investigation, he said this afternoon.
Lewis would not release the man’s name.
