A 20-year-old Arnold man was arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs following an accident in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church cemetery, 2300 Church Road. The car damaged at least nine headstones, Arnold Police reported.
At about 9:20 p.m. Sept. 13, the man was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang east on Church Road. The car veered off the left side of the road after passing Michigan Avenue and went into the cemetery, the report said.
An officer reported the man was incoherent following the accident, and a substance believed to be an illegal drug was found in the car. The man was arrested and taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for DWI and failure to drive in a single lane, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
