Man charged for allegedly hitting man with vehicle at Fenton Walmart

A Granite City, Ill., man has been charged with assault for allegedly ramming another man with a vehicle following a dispute in the parking lot outside of the Walmart department store, 653 Gravois Bluffs, in Fenton. St. Louis County Police arrested the suspect in House Springs, according to court records.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Jake Robinson, 19, on July 25 with first-degree assault, a class A felony; leaving the scene of an accident, a class E felony; and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony. As of July 26, Robinson was being held without bond at St. Louis County Jail, police reported.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Robinson and another man were arguing at about 8:10 p.m. July 24 in the parking lot. Robinson got into his vehicle and allegedly hit the other man at a high rate of speed before fleeing the parking lot.

The victim was seriously injured and transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. The St. Louis County Police have not provided more information about the alleged victim.

Officer found Robinson in House Springs after the incident and arrested him, the report said.

A witness provided investigators with a video of the altercation, the probable-cause statement said.

St. Louis County Police Department Fenton Precinct officers are leading the investigation, police reported.

A class A felony is punishable by 10 to 30 years or life in prison. A class E felony carries a penalty of up to four years, and an unclassified felony is punishable by three to 15 years in prison.
