Man charged following shooting at Imperial apartment

A St. Louis man has been accused of shooting at a group of people in the 5200 block of Lakewood Landing at the Lakewood Apartment complex in Imperial. No one was injured in the shooting, according to court records.

Lonnie Jerome Randall III, 25, has been charged with two felony counts of armed criminal action, felony unlawful use of a weapon shooting at people or a building and felony unlawful use of a weapon exhibiting, court documents show.

As of June 9, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called on June 4 to the apartment complex after the alleged shooting. Randall was near the complex’s entrance when deputies arrived, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

Randall and a group of people, including a woman who he knew, were arguing when he allegedly started shooting at the group outside of the apartment building. Deputies located several bullet holes in the building and the apartment where the argument began, the report said.

Deputies also said bullets hits several other apartments in the building.

Randall was arrested, and he allegedly told deputies he was in a 2017 Hyundai Accent in the complex’s parking lot, where he argued with the woman. He said the woman sprayed him with pepper spray, and he fired a warning shot in the air, according to the report.

Randall said after he fired the weapon, he tried to leave, and he heard gunfire from a breezeway where a group of people who he also had argued with had been standing. He allegedly said he shot back at the group, the report said.

Deputies recovered a gun from the Accent, according to the report.
