The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 27-year-old St. Louis man for alleged drug possession following an accident in the 6300 block of Antire Road in High Ridge. The man had been a passenger in a stolen pickup, authorities reported.
A deputy at about 6:20 p.m. July 12 saw a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 at the Phillips 66 gas station, 2915 High Ridge Blvd., that matched the description of a pickup reported stolen from Archway Foundation Repair in the Fenton area earlier that day, the report said.
The pickup left the gas station parking lot before the deputy could reach it, and it left the deputy’s sight before he could try to initiate a traffic stop. However, the deputy saw the pickup again on Antire Road before it skidded off the road and hit a rock, the report said.
The man who was arrested and another person, who was driving the pickup, ran away after the crash. The deputy was able to arrest the man after a short foot pursuit, but the driver was not located, according to the report.
The man who was arrested allegedly was in possession of a substance that appeared to be an illegal drug, the report said.
The man was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where he was booked and released pending the application for charges.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
