man in handcuffs

A 42-year-old Arnold man who was being booked following an arrest allegedly kicked an Arnold Police officer in the groin. The officer was not seriously injured, authorities said.

Police were called at about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 3 to the Pear Tree Inn, 1201 Drury Lane, in Arnold because the man allegedly was acting unruly and arguing with hotel staff members. The man appeared to be intoxicated when officers arrived, the report said.

The officer asked the man to leave the hotel, but he reportedly refused and was told he was being arrested for trespassing. The man then allegedly sat on the floor in the lobby and refused to get up, forcing officers to physically remove him from the hotel, according to the report.

After the suspect was arrested and transported to the Arnold Police Station, the officer was removing the man’s handcuffs so he could be booked, and the suspect allegedly kicked the officer. The suspect was released and issued summonses to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for alleged first-degree trespassing, resisting arrest and fourth-degree assault on a law enforcement agent, Cpt. Brett Ackermann said.
