Michael A. Mabrey, 36, of Fenton has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for felony drug charges, according to court papers.
On Jan. 27, 2015, Mabrey was found at an apartment in the 4500 block of Rhonda Sue Court in Imperial with numerous items used to make methamphetamine, including jars, bottles, chemicals and a straw with residue on it that tested positive for meth, the probable-cause statement said.
Deputies also found a container filled with marijuana. Some of the items were found in the apartment and some in Mabrey’s van, the report said.
In addition, a computer check showed that Mabrey had tried to buy pseudoephedrine, which is often used to make meth, 94 times during a 30-day period, according to the report.
The previous month, in December 2014, Mabrey was driving near the Dickman’s gas station, 2200 Old Hwy. 21, in Imperial and was pulled over for having the wrong license plates on the vehicle. Mabrey also was driving with a revoked driver’s license. During the arrest, he was found with a container filled with a white powdery substance that turned out to be meth, the probable-cause statement said.
Mabrey pleaded guilty to one count of felony drug trafficking for the 2015 incident and to one count of felony possession of a controlled substance for the 2014 incident, and on Oct. 13, 2016, Jefferson County Div. 2 Circuit Judge Darrell Missey sentenced him to a 10-year prison term for the trafficking charge and to seven years for the other drug charge. However, the terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time. In addition, Mabrey may be released early if he successfully completes a 24-month treatment program, court documents show.

Mabrey currently is in the Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland.
Another defendant, Julia M. Lutz, 34, of St. Louis County, also was charged with felony drug trafficking in connection with the 2015 incident. That case is still pending. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 1 in front of Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy A Cardona, court records indicate.
