Festus Police have identified one suspect and are trying to identify others in connection with the theft of lawn equipment and tools from a garage at a home in the 700 block of South Mill Street in Festus. The garage was unsecured and covered with a tarp, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis reported.
Lewis said the theft happened March 5.
“It was reported about 4:15 p.m., he said. “A 30-year-old resident said he’d been contacted by a neighbor who saw a vehicle in the victim’s driveway and three people get out and go into the garage.”
When the man returned home, he discovered that lawn equipment, chain saws and other items had been stolen.
Lewis said the items were worth somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000.
As of March 9, the stolen items had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
