A 48-year-old House Springs man recently was arrested for allegedly threatening a 26-year-old man with a knife during a family dispute at a home in the 9500 block of South Third Street in Festus. Then, the younger man pulled out a gun during the dispute, but no one was injured, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
Festus Police got a call around 10:15 am. Oct. 29 about the family dispute, Lewis said.
“(Officers) found a 26-year-old St. Louis man and a 14-year-old female juvenile from Festus who stated the juvenile’s father (the House Springs man) came to the house banging on the door,” Lewis said. “They said the father pulled out a knife and the 26-year-old man pulled out a gun. The 48-year-old man ran into nearby woods.
“(The House Springs man) was arrested about an hour and a half later near the Festus Garden Apartments (off South Mill Street).”
Lewis said the 26-year-old man told police the juvenile was “his little sister.”
The House Springs man was booked and released pending application for warrants. No one else was arrested, Lewis said.
