Fire damages kitchen at Barnhart home

A fire damaged a kitchen on July 22 at a home on West Frisco Drive in Barnhart.

A resident and two dogs have been displaced from a home in the 1500 block of West Frisco Drive in Barnhart due to a kitchen fire. No one was injured, the Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.

Rock Fire was called at 8:09 p.m. Monday, July 22, after the resident returned home and heard the smoke alarm going off in the house and called 911. Firefighters arrived at 8:16 p.m., and the fire was under control at 8:31 p.m., spokeswoman Alyson Rotter said.

The blaze was contained to the kitchen, and the scene was cleared at 9:37 p.m., the report said.

Rotter said the cause of the fire had not been determined as of Tuesday morning, July 23. She also said it did not appear to be suspicious.

Rotter said the resident did not need assistance from the Red Cross.

The Antonia Fire Protection District assisted on the call. The Rock Township Ambulance District also responded to the home.
