A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy recently arrested a woman wanted on a warrant for drug trafficking after stopping the SUV she was driving in Cedar Hill. The deputy also allegedly found illegal drugs in the SUV, authorities reported.
Jessica Ann Kossuth, 47, of Dittmer was arrested at about 11 a.m. May 26 after a deputy stopped a 2013 Nissan Rogue that she was driving near the intersection of Hwys. BB and 30. The deputy recognized Kossuth and knew she was wanted on the felony warrant.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in May 2024 had charged Kossuth with two counts of second-degree drug trafficking, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years. She had been arrested by a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper in July 2022 after she was allegedly found with 147 capsules that tested positive for fentanyl, methamphetamine and alprazolam, court records show.
After the Sheriff’s Office deputy had arrested Kossuth on the warrant, a K-9 officer and police dog were called to the scene, and the dog indicated there were narcotics in the SUV. A deputy found numerous capsules that appeared to contain an illegal substance in the SUV, the report said.
Kossuth was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where she was being held as of June 6 on an $80,000 bond, according to jail records.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against Kossuth through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Matt Moore said.
Kossuth has previously been convicted on felony drug charges in Jefferson County, court records show.
In April 2022, she pleaded guilty to charges for delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but the judge suspended the execution of the sentence and placed her on five years’ probation, according to court documents.
