A Jefferson County man was grazed by a bullet after he confronted a group of people who allegedly were trying to get into vehicles in the 20th block of Wallach Drive between Fenton and High Ridge. The man was not seriously injured,, and emergency medical personnel treated the man at the scene and released him, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Sheriff’s Office did not release the man’s age or name.
The shooting happened at about 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. After the man was grazed by the shot, the suspects who allegedly had been going through vehicles drove away in a dark-colored sedan toward Old Sugar Creek Road, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office did not report if anyone had items stolen from the vehicles, and no other injuries or damage because of the gunfire was reported.
Investigators did not believe those in the area were in danger following the incident. More information is expected to be released when available, the Sheriff’s Office said in a written statement.
“This kind of crime is an ongoing threat to residents of Jefferson County,” Sheriff Dave Marshak said in the statement.
