The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a man who reportedly stole $14,750 worth of items from a storage container at a Thomas Industrial Coatings facility north of Festus. The man also allegedly returned to the facility in the 1800 block of Hwy. 61 and tried to steal a camper, authorities reported.

Surveillance video from Nov. 19 reportedly showed the man take a Montana license plate off a Chevrolet Blazer parked at the facility and then break into a storage container. The man allegedly stole five Power Horse generators, two North Star pressure washers and hand tools, the report said.

The man reportedly returned to the facility on Nov. 21 in a vehicle that had the stolen Montana license plate on it. He allegedly tried to steal a camper but could not tow it from the facility, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

As of Nov. 23, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and the man from the surveillance footage had not been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incidents to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
