jcso 2 children dead 5-28-24

Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

Eureka Police are investigating the theft of items from a trailer at a construction site on Bloomfield Drive. The stolen items were valued at $325, authorities reported.

The victim, a 24-year-old St. Clair man, said the items were stolen between Dec. 7 and Dec. 10. He said he had stored his belongings in a locked trailer, but when he returned three days later, the lock had been cut and a space heater, Dewalt radio and Dewalt rechargeable battery were missing, the report said.

Officers discovered a compressor had been moved in the trailer, but it was not taken because it was secured with a chain to one of the trailer’s walls, Eureka Police reported.

As of Dec. 16, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
