Festus Police are investigating a burglary and vandalism at a home in the 1400 block of Alexander Drive. The incident occurred between 6 a.m. Sept. 5 and 5 p.m. Sept. 7, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
The victim, a 62-year-old man, reported the incident shortly after 5 p.m. Sept. 7, Lewis said.
“When the guy came home, he noticed the inside of the house had been vandalized,” Lewis said. “There was a window broken out in a corner of the house that looked like the point of entry. They entire inside of the house had been spray painted.
“They took several weapons, five firearms. It was probably a couple thousand dollars worth of firearms. He still doesn’t have an estimate from his insurance company on the vandalism repairs.”
As of Sept. 15, the stolen items had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lewis said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
