man in handcuffs

A 28-year-old Imperial man was arrested outside an Arnold gas station for alleged possession of illegal drugs. He was arrested around 3:20 p.m. Feb. 3 outside the Phillips 66 station, 5 Municipal Drive, Arnold Police reported.

An officer was driving through the gas station parking lot and saw two men quickly change seats in a 2003 Honda Civic. The officer checked the car’s license plate, and it came back as expired, the report said.

When the officer approached the car, the Imperial man, who was in the driver’s seat, allegedly told the officer he did not have a driver’s license. An Arnold Police dog was with the officer and detected drugs in the car, and the officer searched the Civic and found a purse in the backseat. The purse had several pills inside, and the Imperial man allegedly said the pills belonged to him and the purse belonged to his girlfriend, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of driving with a revoked license, Capt. Rich Shular said.

The male passenger was released at the scene, Shular said.
