man in handcuffs

A 43-year-old Imperial man was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine after he was found parked behind the building that used to house a Gordman’s store, 235 Arnold Crossroads. A woman was in the vehicle with him, but she was not arrested, Arnold Police reported.

At about 8:50 p.m. March 15, officers were patrolling when they spotted a 2005 GMC Yukon parked behind the building. The man told the officers he was parked there because he was searching dumpsters for items, the report said.

The officers asked the man and the female passenger to get out of the SUV and then searched the vehicle. Officers allegedly found a bag containing a white rock-like substance believed to be meth under the radio in the center of the dashboard. The man and woman both told the officers the substance belonged to the other person, according to the report.

Officers arrested the man because the substance was found in his SUV, and when they searched him, they allegedly found another bag containing what is believed to be meth in one of his pants’ pockets, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.

The woman was released at the scene, the report said.
