A 25-year-old Imperial man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident on Michigan Avenue near Jeffco Boulevard in Arnold. The man walked away from the car he was driving following the accident, Arnold Police reported.
Officers were called at about 3:45 p.m. Nov. 28 after a silver 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix went off the road, hit the curb and sidewalk and was left unoccupied facing north in the southbound lanes of Michigan Avenue, the report said.
The Pontiac had extensive damage to the front side and tire on the passenger’s side and to its undercarriage. It was towed, according to the report.
The man was found standing near the Schnucks grocery store, 1253 Water Tower Place, and no injuries were reported. He allegedly told the officers he was driving the car, the report said.
The man allegedly appeared to be intoxicated, but he refused to perform field sobriety tests. However, he was still arrested for suspected DWI and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the report.
He was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released, the report said.
The man was issued summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for alleged DWI and leaving the scene of an accident, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
