man in handcuffs

A 46-year-old Imperial man was arrested on the roof of an Arnold apartment building after he allegedly damaged multiple air-conditioning units. The damage to the units and roof was estimated at about $15,000, Arnold Police reported.

Officers were called at about 7:40 a.m. Sept. 14 to the Villa Apartments in the 1200 block of Airglades Drive off Telegraph Road. The man was on top of the buildings, where he allegedly was throwing air-conditioning units on the roof, the report said.

The Rock Community Fire Protection District was called to the apartments so the officers could use a firetruck ladder to get onto the roof. After climbing onto the roof, the officers arrested the man without further incident, according to the report.

The man would not tell the officers why he allegedly was damaging the building or how he accessed the roof. Officers later learned the man had been evicted from the complex, Arnold Police reported.

The man was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree property damage and first-degree trespassing, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
