A house under construction in the 500 block of Huntington Trail in the Festus area was burglarized twice in one week. The first burglary happened between Nov. 16 and Nov. 19 and the second one occurred between Nov. 21 and Nov. 23, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The builder is Centermark Construction in Bloomsdale.
The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t know how the culprit got into the house during the first incident, but $415 worth of electrical wire and cable was stolen, the report said.
In the second incident, it looked like a door was forced open. Electrical wire and copper gas line were stolen. The damage to the door and the stolen items were valued at $6,000, according to the report.
On Nov. 29, Sgt. Matthew Moore said none of the stolen items had been recovered and there had been no arrests. He asks anyone with information about the burglaries to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
