A 40-year-old High Ridge woman was allegedly found with a stolen gun and suspected illegal drugs following a traffic stop by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. She also allegedly told the deputy that scrap metal that was on the car’s backseat came from a construction dumpster, authorities reported.
A deputy at about 10:10 p.m. Jan. 22 stopped the woman near the intersection of Bear Creek Road and Bear Ridge Drive in High Ridge because the 2009 Pontiac G5 she was driving had an expired license plate, the report said.
The woman was initially arrested because she was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. When the deputy searched the woman’s purse, he allegedly found a 9 mm Springfield Hellcat and illegal drugs, according to the report.
The gun had been reported stolen in September 2024 from a High Ridge home, the report said.
The woman was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where she was booked for her warrant, according to the report.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Matt Moore said.
