The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified a 39-year-old Pevely man and 42-year-old House Springs women as suspects in a theft from a McBride Homes construction site. The two allegedly broke into one of the construction company’s trailers and stole about $14,000 worth of items, police reported.

According to the report, at about 6:10 a.m. Jan. 14, a deputy saw the damaged trailer in the Bear Ridge neighborhood on Bear Ridge Drive in House Springs. An estimated cost to repair the trailer was not reported.

The man was arrested at about 2:45 p.m. the same day of the alleged theft when he was stopped in the 8600 block of High Street in Cedar Hill while driving a red Dodge Ram 1500, which was seen at the construction site. A deputy allegedly found some of the stolen items in the pickup, the report said.

The man was arrested on other felony warrants, and a deputy allegedly found drug paraphernalia in the pickup. The man was taken to Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro where he was held until Jan. 17 when he posted bond for his outstanding warrants, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Sheriff’s Office has applied for charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for driving while suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia, spokesman Grant Bissell said.

He also said as of Feb. 5, the investigation into the theft from the trailer is still ongoing, and the woman suspected of taking part in the theft had not been arrested.
