The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate a 49-year-old House Springs man who allegedly forged checks that he took from another man. The House Springs man also borrowed the alleged victim’s pickup and has not returned it, police reported.
A man told deputies on Sept. 4 that he had allowed the House Springs man to borrow a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 on Sept. 2. However, he had not heard from the man since then and does not have a way to reach the man who borrowed the pickup, the report said.
The alleged victim also told deputies the other man stole a checkbook from his home in the 4900 block of West Four Ridge Road in House Springs and has withdrawn $1,241. The alleged victim said he received a copy of one check made out to the House Springs man, and that the victim’s name had been forged on the check.
The Sheriff’s Office did not report how much money the forged check was made out for, and it did not provide an estimated value for the stolen pickup.
As of Sept. 5, the pickup had not been recovered, and the Sheriff’s Office had not located the House Springs man, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the stolen pickup or the House Springs man to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
