Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are trying to find a 29-year-old House Springs man suspected of stealing a pickup from Midwest Motors, 1400 S. Outer Road. The pickup was recovered by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in the 800 block of High View Drive in the Fenton area, police reported.

The 2004 Ford F-250 was stolen just after midnight on May 7 from Midwest Motors. Surveillance video showed two men enter the dealership’s parking lot and get into the pickup, and then it was driven through the gate at the business, the report said.

On May 10, the Sheriff’s Office was called to the 2400 block of Old Hwy. 141 in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton about a 2008 Honda ATV that had been reported stolen in St. Louis County and found the ATV at the address. Deputies interviewed a 34-year-old Fenton man suspected of stealing the ATV, and he told investigators his friend had dropped off the stolen F-250 at home in the 800 block of High View Drive, according to the report.

Deputies found the pickup, but its back seat had been removed and the ignition and door locks had been damaged. They contacted the previous owner, who then called Midwest Motors because he had sold the pickup to the dealership, Eureka Police reported.

The F-250 was valued at $15,000 when it was stolen, but the value was reduced to about $7,500 because of the damage, the report said.

As of May 20, the 29-year-old House Springs man had not been located, Lt. Michael Werges said.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said the Fenton man was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking a first-degree tampering charge against him.
