The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at a vacant home in the 300 block of Brookstone Valley in House Springs. The cost to replace the stolen items and repair damage to the home was estimated at $15,000, authorities reported.
The owner of Proverbs 31 Properties, which owns the home, contacted deputies Nov. 21 about the incident, which occurred between Nov. 8 and Nov. 19. The victim said her contractor alerted her to the burglary on Nov. 19, the report said.
The victim said she lives in Byrnes Mill and first attempted to contacted Byrnes Mill Police about the incident, but because of a miscommunication, she never followed up with that department and Nov. 21 was the first day she saw the damage to the Brookstone Valley home, according to the report.
The front door to the home was forced open, and the furnace, water heater and drywall were damaged. An air-conditioning unit was removed from the house, and parts from the furnace and water heater were stolen, along with copper pipes and wires throughout the home, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of Nov. 30, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
