Hillsboro shed damaged in fire

A fire destroys a shed in Hillsboro on April 5.

A metal building in the 400 block of Maple Lane in Hillsboro was significantly damaged by a fire on April 5. No one was injured, said Hillsboro Fire Chief Brian Gaudet.

He said the Hillsboro Fire Department got a call at 9:51 a.m. about the fire, and firefighters quickly contained the blaze.

“It came in as a small barn fire,” he said. “Our first apparatus was there at 9:55 and found a small metal shed/barn with heavy smoke. Firefighters had it under control by 10:02 a.m. There was extensive interior damage. It did not spread to the main house.”

Gaudet said Tuesday, April 9, that the cause of the fire was undetermined.

“We have not ruled out an electrical issue,” he said.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:15 a.m., Gaudet said.

The Goldman, Mapaville and Antonia fire protection districts helped with the call. The Valle Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
