Kevin J. Karll, 68, of High Ridge has been sentenced to 10 years for felony drug charges.

At the time of the arrest for those drug offenses, he was on probation after being convicted of previous drug charges, according to court papers.

On Nov. 7, Karll pleaded guilty to one charge of delivery of a controlled substance and one charge of possession of a controlled substance, and Jefferson County Div. 1 Circuit Judge Joseph Rathert sentenced him that day to 10 years for each of the charges. However, the sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time, court documents show.

Karll had pleaded guilty to at least three prior drug charges. In May 2007, he pleaded guilty to a possession charge in St. Charles County following a September 2005 arrest, and in March 2017, he pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance following an arrest in December 2015 in Jefferson County, according to court records.

In 2017, he was sentenced to 10 years for each of those drug charges, but the sentences were suspended and he was placed on five years’ probation. Those sentences will now be served concurrently with the 10-year sentence he received on Nov. 7, court documents indicated.

The latest charges stemmed from an arrest in January 2019 when DEA agents and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched a home in the 5300 block of Brinridge Drive in High Ridge where Karll was living. In the home, authorities found 18.93 grams of meth, 73 capsules that contained oxycodone, a Smith and Wesson gun case that had a magazine with three .380-caliber bullets, a Kevlar vest and $12,600 in cash, the probable-cause statement in the case said.

Karll told a DEA agent he was giving away the meth and planned to use the money to purchase more meth, the report said.

As of Nov. 10, Karll was being held at the Probation and Parole Office in St. Louis.

Assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay E. Whalen handled the case.
