Shawn David Mitchell, 28, of High Ridge has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for molesting a young girl, court papers show.
Between July 30, 2013, and Aug. 15, 2013, in Jefferson County, Mitchell, a prior sex offender, had sexual relations with the girl, who was younger than 17 at the time, the report said.
Mitchell, formerly of Licking, pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced Aug. 11 by Jefferson County Div. 2 Circuit Judge Gary P. Kramer to three seven-year terms – one for statutory rape and the other two for statutory sodomy – and one four-year term for failure to report as a sex offender at his High Ridge address. The three seven-year terms are to be served, concurrently, or at the same time, but the four-year term will be served consecutively, according to the report.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Catherine A. Crowley handled the case.
Mitchell also was sentenced on Aug. 11 to 120 days in jail for resisting arrest, according to court documents.
On Aug. 16, Mitchell ran from a Missouri State Highway Patrolman who arrived at his High Ridge apartment to arrest him, the report said.
Mitchell previously pleaded guilty to a statutory rape charge and a statutory sodomy charge stemming from a May 2007 incident in Texas County and was sentenced in December 2008 to two five-year terms, but the sentences were suspended and he received five years’ probation after completing a 120-day treatment program, court records indicate.
After he violated his probation, though, the sentences were executed, the report said.
He currently is in the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green.
