A detached garage at a home in the 300 block of Old Sugar Creek Road in unincorporated Fenton was significantly damaged by fire Thursday afternoon (Feb. 13). A pickup parked inside the garage also was damaged, said John Barton, engineer with the High Ridge Fire Protection District.
Barton said at least three adults were in the main house on the property when the fire broke out. The fire was contained to the garage, and no injuries were reported, he added.
Barton said High Ridge Fire got a call at 12:37 p.m. about the blaze.
“The first unit arrived at 12:42 p.m. They reported seeing the smoke from their station,” Barton said. “It was a 20-foot-by-40-foot garage – a metal building – and a pickup truck.”
Barton said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it does not appear suspicious.
He said firefighters remained on the scene until 2:25 p.m.
The Saline Valley and Fenton and fire protection districts and the North Jefferson Ambulance District helped with the call.
