Marvin D. Haverstick, 51, of Cedar Hill, a persistent offender, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison following felony drug and driving while revoked charges and a probation violation, court records indicate.
In March 2012, Haverstick was found in a camper parked in the 8600 block of Wilbert Lane in Cedar Hill with a meth lab inside. Two other men, Gregory A. Turnbo, 30, of Barnhart and Terry C. McDowell, 30, of Cedar Hill, were with Haverstick in the camper, the probable-cause statement said.
In January 2012, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper spotted Haverstick driving a vehicle with a revoked license at Hwy. 30 and Ficken Road in the Cedar Hill-Dittmer area. He also was speeding, the report said.
Haverstick pleaded guilty to felony attempting to make meth stemming from the March 2012 incident and to felony driving with a revoked license for the January 2012 incident, and he was sentenced in November 2012 to 13 years in prison for the drug charge and four years for the other charge. The two prison terms were to be served concurrently, or at the same time. However, Haverstick was released in January 2014 after completing a treatment program, and the sentences were suspended, according to court documents.
Haverstick violated the probation, though, and on Aug. 16, Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan B. Stewart executed the two sentences, to be served concurrently.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Trisha C. Stefanski handled the cases.
Turnbo also was charged with felony attempting to make meth stemming from the March 2012 incident and in February 2013, and after pleading guilty, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, he was released in May 2014 after completing a treatment program, and the sentence was suspended.
McDowell was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance for his part in the incident, and after pleading guilty, in November 2015, he got five years’ probation, court documents indicate.
The two terms Haverstick was sentenced to in August also are to be served concurrent with five seven-year and six four-year terms he previously was sentenced to, court papers show.
He was sentenced to a seven-year term and five four-year terms for possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license tied to an April 2004 incident in Jefferson County; to a seven-year and a four-year term for possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license stemming from a January 2006 incident in Jefferson County; to a seven-year term for possession of a controlled substance tied to a March 2006 incident in Jefferson County; and to two seven-year terms for possession of a controlled substance connected to an October 2006 incident in Jefferson County, according to court records.
He previously served time in prison for felony DWI – persistent offender and second-degree assault while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated tied to a June 2001 incident in Jefferson County, as well as for driving with a suspended license connected to an October 2008 incident in Jefferson County.
Haverstick currently is facing charges for felony drug trafficking and misdemeanor resisting arrest stemming from a Jan. 18, 2015, incident in Jefferson County and for felony driving with a revoked license and felony resisting arrest connected to a Jan. 23, 2015, incident in Jefferson County. Those cases are pending.
He currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
