Two handguns, two chainsaws and two pocketknives were stolen from a Pevely garage June 23.
The homeowner in the 1900 block of Hwy. Z had worked in his garage until 11 p.m. on June 22. When he got ready to leave for work the next morning, he discovered the garage had been burglarized and items worth more than $1,000 had been taken, according to Pevely Police.
The stolen items were an RG .22 handgun valued at $200; a Leinad Backwoods model two-barrel derringer worth $150; a Husqvarna chainsaw worth $400; a Stihl chainsaw valued at $250 and a Winchester pocket knife set of two knives valued at $20.
A door on the west side of the garage had been left unlocked, according to the police report. The homeowner’s vehicle, which was parked outside the garage, also had been gone through but nothing was missing.
