A handgun, ammunition and a flashlight were stolen from a car parked in front of a home in the 1200 block of Oakwood Court in Festus. The theft occurred overnight between Jan. 26 and Jan. 27, Festus Police Chief Doug Wendel.

He said the .40-caliber pistol was valued at $500, and the flashlight was worth $100. However, he did not have an estimated value for the ammunition, adding that the items were stolen from a 2006 Mazda3.

“We are unsure how entry was gained,” Wendel said. “It is not known if the vehicle was locked.”

As of Tuesday, Jan. 30, no arrests had been made and no items had been recovered, he said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
