The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 46-year-old St. Louis man for allegedly burglarizing and damaging a business in the Gravois-Dillon Plaza in High Ridge. When he was arrested, the man had hospital leads attached to him, and he was wearing women’s leggings, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called to the plaza at about 2 a.m. Feb. 10 because the man reportedly was causing a disturbance in the parking lot. When they arrived, the man allegedly was hitting a semi-truck with his hands, the report said.
When the man saw the deputies, he ran around the parking lot but eventually was detained on the sidewalk outside the Advance America loan business, 12 Dillon Plaza Drive. After stopping the man, deputies discovered the loan business had been burglarized, according to the report.
A door, furniture and papers were damaged at the business. The damage was estimated at $4,000, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies also discovered that signage for the Schnuck’s store, 20 Dillon Plaza Drive, also was damaged. An employee told officers the store did not want to prosecute for the damage, according to the report.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said it is not known how the man got to the shopping plaza, where he came from or why he had hospital leads attached to him.
The man was taken to an area hospital for evaluation following the incident, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Bissell said the Sheriff’s Office will seek a burglary charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
