The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of seven guns, 6,000 rounds of ammunition and $600 from a home in the 2100 block of Terra Lane in High Ridge. Altogether, the stolen items were worth about $6,100, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The theft happened between about 5:30 p.m. May 18 and 7:30 p.m. May 22. The victim told authorities when he returned home on May 22, he noticed a window screen from a back bedroom window was on the ground. Then, the victim discovered that the guns, ammunition and money missing from a gun safe he had in the home, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office report did not indicate if the safe had been left unlocked or if it was forced open. The missing guns included two Smith and Wesson M&P compact pistols, a Ruger revolver, a Beretta NO22 pistol, a Savage Model A-17, a Ruger 10/22 rifle and an unknown make and model 20-gauge shotgun, according to the report.
As of May 28, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
