A gun, two laptop computers, a camera and other items recently were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at a home in the 5800 block of Blackberry Drive in Imperial. The theft happened between 5 p.m. Sept. 17 and 10 a.m. Sept. 18, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Stolen items included a Sig Sauer P938 9mm semiautomatic pistol, a Surface Pro laptop computer; another laptop; a camera; a Fossil briefcase; miscellaneous keys; and phone chargers. In all, the items were valued at $3,050, the report said.

On Sept. 20, a neighbor returned the gun, stating that an unknown man had given it to him. The neighbor also gave a description of the man’s vehicle, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said.

As of Thursday (Sept. 29), none of the other items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Higginbotham said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
