Guitars, tools and other items recently were stolen from unlocked vehicles parked in the 12000 block of Hwy. CC in the Festus area. The theft happened between 8 p.m. Sept. 18 and 6:50 a.m. Sept. 19, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Stolen items included a red Fender Telecaster guitar with a brown leather strap and the black hard case it was in; a black Bill Lawrence guitar and a black hard case; five Ryobi screw guns; a Ryobi six-pack battery charger; a camera; a duffle bag filled with soccer equipment and a checkbook. Altogether the items were valued at $6,700, the report said.

The victims said they had gone to bed between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sept. 18, and when they got up the next morning around 6 a.m., they found that someone had gotten inside three unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway and stole the items, according to the report.

As of Thursday (Sept. 29), the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
