A blaze that destroyed a shed in the 100 block of Marty Martin Road north of Hillsboro appears to have been caused by fireworks, Goldman Fire Chief Curtis Peters said.
The Goldman Fire Protection District received a call at 12:18 a.m. Monday, June 26, about the fire, and firefighters arrived to find the shed was beyond saving, Peter said.
“We extinguished what flames were there,” he said. “It was a 20-foot-by-30-foot shed. It burned to the ground. Everything inside was destroyed. They had some ATVs, a bunch of tools, lawn equipment and chain saws inside.”
Peters said the fire was accidental.
“They were shooting fireworks earlier in the evening. I guess it was an ember,” he said.
Peters said the main house, which is about 50 feet away from the shed, was not affected by the fire.
No one was in the shed and no firefighters were injured during the incident. Firefighters remained on the scene until 1 a.m., he said.
The Hematite, High Ridge, Saline Valley, Hillsboro and Mapaville fire protection districts helped with the call, and the Valle Ambulance District responded to the scene.
