Arnold Police are investigating two vandalism cases – one involving a car parked outside a home in the 1200 block of Rockwood Forest Drive and the other involving a burglarized home in the 1200 block of Ballast Point Drive. The letters “GDK” were painted on both the car on Rockwood Forest and inside the house on Ballast Point, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
He said investigators have been told the letters stand for “Guardian Disciple Killers,” but police do not believe the incidents are part of coordinated gang activity.
“It may be some kids trying to get some street cred,” Ackermann said.
The first incident happened between about 2:30 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. May 5, when the letters, “GDK,” a curse word and the letters, “PUP, were written on the car in orange spray paint, and the letters “GDK” were scratched into the hood. The Police Department had no estimate for the damage, Ackermann said.
He said a 45-year-old Arnold man owns the car, but it typically is driven by a teenager. Investigators have identified a person of interest in that case, but no arrests had been made as of today, May 12, Ackermann added.
Police got a call about the second incident at the home on Ballast Point at approximately 2:30 p.m. May 8. The victim, a 59-year-old Arnold woman, said the back door had been kicked, the house had been ransacked and the letters “GDK” were written in red paint on a bedroom wall, the report said.
The woman said she is in the process of moving out of the home, and it was not damaged when she left at about 5 p.m. May 7. The woman also said some of her possessions might have been missing. The cost to repair the damage to the home was estimated at about $3,000, according to the report.
As of today, police did not have a list of stolen items from the Ballast Pint home, and no suspects had been identified in that burglary and vandalism.
