The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 36-year-old Franklin County man for allegedly stealing from a home in the 8000 block of Dittmer Catawissa Road in Dittmer twice in three days. Authorities are seeking a second suspect who allegedly ran from the scene, the report said.
At about 6:20 p.m. April 30, the suspect allegedly was spotted inside a house stealing numerous tools, engine parts and gun parts worth an estimated $5,000. However, the man was arrested at the scene and the stolen property was returned, according to the report.
A second suspect ran from the home and could not be found, so authorities are still looking for that person, Sgt. Matthew Moore said on May 3.
The Franklin County man reportedly told authorities he drove a 1969 Chevrolet pickup to the house that he allegedly had stolen two days earlier from the same home. The deputy contacted the victim, who reported that the pickup had been stolen April 28. The pickup also was returned, according to the report, Sgt. Matthew Moore said.
He said the Franklin County man was booked and released pending application for warrants. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
