Fox High School, 751 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold was evacuated at about 11:15 am. today, Oct. 10, for approximately 10 minutes after a smoke alarm went off in one of the building’s bathrooms, Principal Ryan Sherp said in a written statement.

Neither fire nor smoke was detected in the building, and classes resumed after the fire district investigated the school, the statement said.

Fox C-6 School District spokesman Andy Waterman said the Rock Community Fire Protection District responded to the alarm.

Sherp said in the statement that the building was evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

“Student safety is our number one priority,” he wrote. “Throughout the year, we take strides to prepare our students for emergencies both large and small. I am pleased with the swift response of our staff and local fire department, as well as the cooperation of our students.

“Though we believe there was never any threat to our students or staff, we managed to safely evacuate the building in a timely fashion.”
